Guillermo Totoro

Guillermo del Toro is one of the most important cinema directors of the last decade. He won a 2 academy awards in 2017 for "The shape of Water". He's career start with "Cronos", a film who reinvent the genre of vampires. All the career of Guillermo is marked by the monsters. He said: one day, when i was a child, in the foot of the bed, Showed up a "Pan", he had fear, but he want to go to the bathroom, for do that, he do a pact with the pan: "I'm gonna be a friend of the monsters all of my life".

 

The movies of Guillermo talk about the monsters and the fear, but... in all of his films, the antagonist is a human. The monster is a strange creature, but not necesary a villain.

In the Pan's Labyrinth the enemy is not the Pan (you have other monster who act like a villain), but the real enemy is a fascist general of Franco's Dictatorship.

 I like his films, but are not my favorites. The reason why i love Guillermo is for his personality, He ever try to inspire to young people, he has even been a producer for the debut of new directors. He is very kind, happy and lovely with the people. This is the reason why his fans called him Guillermo Totoro, comparing it with the lovely creature of Studio Ghibli.
